Matt Todd
Executive Board President
Matt Todd lives in Ada County but grew up in northern California. After graduating high school, he attended UC Berkeley where he received his BA in Rhetoric and won a National Championship in Rowing. Upon graduating, Matt immediately started a small education business, which he ultimately sold in 2022 when he moved to Idaho.
Once he was situated, Matt realized there was no video based, easy to consume resource to not only learn about the history of his new state, but also to educate himself about Idaho’s current happenings and issues. He also saw the incredible damage dealt by misinformation perpetuated by social media platforms and knew there was only one solution. After being in Idaho for six months and knowing no one, Matt built a podcast studio and started producing. Since July 2022, he has hosted, produced, and self funded every episode of The Ranch Podcast, which has become the sole trusted podcast for many local and state leaders.
Matt, as well as most Americans, believes in unbiased, high quality media, and in the absence of someone else taking up the charge, he made an unbiased media center himself.

Understanding Truth In Media
-
The Truth in Media Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) not for profit entity that is focused on education around public policy. The vast majority of people form their world views by consuming short and long form content on social media platforms, but conversely those engaging in law making, law enforcement, and state leadership do not grow social media platforms or attempt to communicate on them. This is the bridge that the TIM Foundation and The Ranch Podcast have created. We connect regular citizens in the state of Idaho to those elected officials and community leaders that we’ve entrusted to run our state.
-
No, neither the TIM Foundation nor The Ranch Podcast engage in partisan, biased media. There is a world of content on both legacy media news channels and social channels that engage in partisan platform creation and commentary. Our fundamental mission is the exact opposite of that as we believe creating a good faith, high quality market place for communication and idea distribution will yield not only better results for the state but serve to create a better Idaho population now and in the future.
-
We are experiencing a crisis nationwide with media, both legacy and social. Legacy news media is captured and reductionist, giving leaders a mere few minutes to express and defend themselves. Social media is largely unused by Idaho leaders, and private individuals that do use it successfully have no obligation to reality and are driven by more views, more clicks, greater inflammatory content, and ultimately a monetization mechanism that does not breed useful interactions.
The TIM Foundation supports the production of Idaho centered, high quality, long form conversations and short form clips with Idaho leaders from a wide swath of sectors so the average Idahoan can learn about this incredible state in ways never before possible.
-
There is no better example of the power of podcasts than to look at the recent presidential election. Both candidates and their teams widely utilized podcasts as a way to connect directly with the American public, and it’s no wonder why. What other communication platform can be utilized to engage in long form, good faith conversations with trusted interviewers?
The TIM Foundation and the Ranch Podcast are providing that exact channel and ability to Idaho’s leaders. Idaho’s culture, its history, and its future are at risk if we lack a proper communication channel to engage multi-generation and new residents alike. The problems Idaho is facing are numerous and complex, ranging from Water to Health Care to Law Enforcement and more. Presently, there is no other source of information that can effectively engage and produce real conversations with Idaho’s problem solvers to make a more informed populous, one less persuaded by outside influence and more capable of working together towards solutions.
